What You Own When You Buy
When you purchase a painting, print, ceramic mug, t-shirt, or any other product from this store, you own that physical item. You do not acquire any copyright, reproduction rights, or licensing rights in the underlying artwork.
Under U.S. copyright law, owning a copy of a work is separate from owning the copyright in it. (Buying the canvas does not buy the right to reproduce what's painted on it.)
You may:
- Display the artwork you purchased in your home or place of business
- Resell, gift, or donate the specific physical item you bought (the "first sale doctrine")
Without my prior written permission, you may not:
- Reproduce, scan, re-photograph for reproduction, or print copies of the artwork
- Use the artwork, its images, or my designs for any commercial purpose
- Create derivative works, merchandise, or digital tokens based on the artwork
- Use any images or content from this site to train AI systems or build datasets

Colors and finishes may vary slightly between what appears on your screen and the physical product, due to monitor settings, printing, and the handmade nature of some items. Original paintings and handmade ceramics are one-of-a-kind, and minor variations are part of their character, not defects.
Authenticity
Original works are sold as authentic, hand-created pieces by Heather Alvis. Reproductions and prints are clearly identified as such in their product listings.
